Your Place in HIStory

12-09-12 //  "Your Place in HIStory" by Greg Sidders"

If you've ever watched a children's Christmas play, you know that the stage gets awfully crowded. Even though it's the story of the birth of Jesus, the supporting cast is huge. Joseph and Mary. Shepherds. Wise men. An innkeeper. Camels, donkeys and sheep. Maybe even a little drummer boy. Everyone has a role to play.

The same is true in the biblical accounts of Christ's birth. Jesus is in the spotlight, of course, but there are many other characters on stage. And they matter; the story wouldn't be the same without them.

You and I are also part of the story--and if we learn the lessons that the people surrounding baby Jesus teach us, our lives will contribute to HIStory in a significant way. So for the next three weeks, we're going to learn, from the supporting cast, how to play our part in a way that makes our Audience of One stand and cheer.

How to Break Bad Habits

Click to watch, "How to Break Bad Habits" by Greg Sidders // 10-28-12, White Pine Community Church

Can good people have bad habits?

Yes. And they can also break them.
In our Bridge to God series, we learned that Jesus not paid for our badness; He also gave us His goodness. But you don't want goodness that is only skin-deep, do you? You want to become a better person to the core of your being. The question is, how you conquer those deep-seated bad habits that linger even after you decide to follow Christ?

This message begins a new five-part series, based on Romans 6-8, that will help you to become in real life what you already are in God's eyes. Step one is to free the new you from that bad habit you never thought you could break.

Victory Celebration / Romans 5

Click to watch Greg Sidders message, "Victory Celebration" from Romans chapter 5. Sunday 10-21-1

When you experience the thrill of victory after a lifetime of agonizing defeat, that's something you want to savor.

Last Sunday we learned that, despite our utter inability to achieve righteousness, Jesus paid the ultimate price to give it to us as a free gift. Even though we deserve death, He has given us life. Eternal life! That's a victory to relish. And Romans 5, the chapter we will study this weekend at White Pine, will help us to do that, by highlighting some of the real-life benefits of being part of Team Jesus. Come join the victory celebration!

How To Fire-Proof Your Future

Watch, "How To Fire-Proof Your Future" by Greg Sidders

Ready for some good news?
For the past three weeks, we have been learning from Romans 1-3 that every attempt we have made to build a bridge to God has failed. Left to ourselves, we have no hope.

BUT. That's the word that begins the section of Scripture we will study this Sunday (Romans 3:21-4:25). I hope you'll come and hear what God has done to build a bridge to us, undeserving as we are. It's the best news you will ever hear about the most valuable gift you will ever be given.

Watch Greg Sidders message, "Intervention" / Sunday 10-07-12

What would you do if someone you loved had a serious problem that they were totally unaware of? Would you tell them? Even if you knew they might get defensive?

Of course you would, because, as Proverbs 27:6 (TLB) says, "Wounds from a friend are better than kisses from an enemy!"

Ever since we started studying the Book of Romans three weeks ago, the Spirit of God, through the apostle Paul, has been wounding us in order to heal us. But the area of our life that He has been targeting is so stubbornly resistant to exposure and excision that multiple applications of tough love are required.

Please remember, as we study Romans 2:12-3:20 this Sunday, that, even if it stings a little, there is joy on the other side of this intervention that will make us eternally grateful for such a faithful Friend.

"Bridge Inspection" 09-23-12

Everyone who wants to make it to heaven has to cross a bridge of some kind to get from here to there. And no one I know thinks the bridge they're on is unsafe.
But as confident as you may be in the structural integrity of your bridge to God, wouldn't you like to be 100% sure that it's never going to collapse? This is not an area in which you want to be overconfident, and thus under-inspected, is it? Too much is at stake.
So for the next five weeks, we're going to subject our most deeply held beliefs to a biblical inspection. As we study together the first five chapters of the Book of Romans, the Spirit of God will reinforce our convictions and expose our misconceptions, so that we can face the future with the peace that comes from knowing that our bridge is going to get us home safely.

Fatigue / Sunday 09-09-12

Summer is over. Time to get back to work! You should be all rested up, ready to hit the ground running--but what if you aren't? What if there is a weariness in your soul that the changing seasons cannot snap you out of? What if passion for God--or, for that matter, passion for anything--is something you haven't felt since you can't remember when? What if your Passion battery is dead?
Only God can recharge you when you're that depleted. And He will. Maybe as soon as this Sunday. Come and plug in at White Pine!

Man on Fire - Sunday 08-26-12

Click to watch, "Man on Fire" by Greg Sidders from Sunday 08-26-12

Passion is not taught; it's caught.

So if you want to a more passionate relationship with God, what better way to do it than to hang around the most passionate lover of God you know?

In Scripture, no one loves God more passionately than David does.  That's why we're going to spend Passion some time with him this Sunday at White Pine--it's because we can learn, just by warming our hands over his inner fire, how to increase the temperature of our love for God.

If your passion for God has been on ice, it's time to come in from the cold!

How to Be Your Husband's Best Friend

Watch, "How to Be Your Husband's Best Friend" by Greg Sidders / White Pine Community Church / Father's Day 06-17-12

You may remember that, as a gift to women on Mother's Day, we studied every New Testament command given to husbands.

So guess what we're going to do in this Father's Day message?

Right, in this message we're going to conclude our marriage series with a message about what God calls wives to do for their husbands

Watch, "How to Have a Good Fight" / Sunday 06-10-12

I'm not going to ask you whether you and your spouse ever argue. I already know the answer to that. My question is: Do you argue well?
Conflict in a close relationship is inevitable--in fact, it's purposeful--but there is a healthy way and an unhealthy way to work through disagreements. In this message, we're going to discover what the Bible teaches about how to have a good fight ... the kind that strengthens a marriage rather than fracturing it. Come and learn how to fight for the marriage you've always wanted.

Affair - Proof Your Marriage

Watch, "Affair Proof Your Marriage" from Sunday 06-03-12 / By Greg Sidders / White Pine Community Church

We live in a culture that treats marital infidelity as a trivial thrill--an "affair"--but if you have ever pulled the pin of that grenade or been wounded by its shrapnel, you know what a devastating sin it really is. You also know that the severity of the consequences does not lessen the strength of the temptation.Marriage
How can you escape the lure--and the hook--of infidelity? What steps can you take to affair-proof your marriage? I'll show you some very practical advice from the Bible this Sunday in Part 4 of The Marriage You've Always Wanted.

Busily Every After

Watch Greg Sidders Message, "Busily Every After" / Sunday 05-27-12

Pursuing unhurried and undistracted intimacy in a 21st century marriage is like being a contestant on Wipeout. Between you and your goal are a lot of obstacles orchestrated to beat you up and wear you down until you're too exhausted to relish victory.

But when you're proactive rather than reactive, you can anticipate and dodge that which levels the ill-prepared. So this Sunday at White Pine, you're going to be equipped to overcome two of the biggest obstacles to the marriage you've always wanted.

Why Marriage?

"Why Marriage" by Greg Sidders / White Pine Community Church / 05-20-12

Men and women say "I do" for all kinds of reasons, but do you do when your marriage doesn't live up to your expectations?

Here's an idea: Ask the inventor of the institution, "What were you thinking?"

God had His reasons for creating marriage, and He didn't keep them a secret. This Sunday at White Pine we are going to discover what God had in mind so that we can find the good in marriage that eludes those who are ignorant of His purposes.

A Man's Guide to a Great Marriage / Sunday 05-13-12

Watch A Man's Guide to a Great Marriage, by Greg Sidders / Sunday 05-13-12

It was in the receiving line following my friends' wedding that a middle-aged man cracked a joke. As he and his wife congratulated the newlyweds, he said, "I hope you will be as happy as we thought we'd be."
Marriage is a double-edged sword. No other relationship has greater potential to enrich us, nor more power to deplete us. But what does it take to make your marriage a blessing rather than a curse? That's what we are going to find out during the next six weeks, as we explore what the Bible teaches about how to achieve The Marriage You've Always Wanted. And we're going to start with an appropriate topic for Mother's Day: God's job description for husbands. (Don't worry guys, we'll turn the tables on Father's Day!)
If you're not married, I hope you won't assume that this series is not for you. The principles we learn can make your most important relationships better, too. As all of us listen without defensiveness and obey without excuses, God will transform our relationships into compelling advertisements for the mountain-moving power of Jesus.

The Sermon on The Amount

Watch, "The Sermon on The Amount" by Greg Sidders, Pastor / White Pine Community Church

In this message we're going to wrestle with a question that is as common among generous Christians as it is criticized by wary skeptics: How much of our money does God want us to give to the church?

If I promise to teach you the Bible's answer to that question to the best of my ability, without tweaking the truth in order to manipulate you, are you willing to learn with a open heart?

I hope so, because it's truth that can set you free.

But you know, deep down, that it's a lie.

The question is, how do you escape the clutches of materialism to a more satisfying and significant life?

In this message, you'll find out. And if what you learn changes your life, it might also save someone else's. Really.

Six Habits of Highly Prosperous People

Watch Greg's Message, "Six Habits of Highly Prosperous People" from Sunday 03-11-12

Where do you go when you need financial advice?

According to a recent poll, there's one place that 86% of Americans don't go: To the Bible. The reason why? They don't think it will help.

I disagree. I believe the Bible is the most practical and proven money management tool available--and in this message, we are going learn six habits of highly prosperous people.

The best part? It won't cost you a thing.

Watch to Greg Sidders in, "Jesus On Money" Part 1 of 4 in the series, "God Over Money" / White Pine Community Church

In this message we're going to begin a four-part series on money.

How does that make you feel?

Maybe you're thinking, "It makes me feel like taking the next four Sundays off." I hear you. Money may be the most important subject that we don't want to hear about in church. But we need to, because the Bible tells us the truth about money (over 800 verses worth, actually), and the truth will set us free. Is that how feel about your finances right now? Free? If note, listen and learn how liberating it can be to put God over your money!

With love,

Greg Sidders

When it Feels Like God is Piling On

Watch Greg's Message: "When if Feels Like God is Piling On" / Sunday 02-19-12

Does it ever feel to you like God is piling on?

When He allows us to experience multiple trials at the same time, it can drain our emotions, damage our relationships, age our bodies and break our spirits. So where in the Bible can we find support to bear up under the crush of multilayer suffering?

You might be surprised. But I think you'll also be encouraged. So I'm praying that you'll find the strength to make it out from under that pile to listen to this message, and that you will get a much-needed breather.

What To Do With Your Spiritual Gift

Watch Greg Sidders message, "What To Do With Your Spiritual Gift."

It has been a joy for me to teach on the Holy Spirit for the last five weeks, because so many of you have shared with me your excitement about learning new and potentially life-changing truth about Him.

But sometimes there is a gap between what we know God can do and what we are willing to let Him do. In this message we are going to close that gap by venturing out of our comfort zone into behavior that matches what we believe about the Holy Spirit. How God will work as we do that, I can't predict--but that He will work is a sure bet.  Don't miss it!

How To Get Everything God Wants To Give You

Watch Greg's message, "How To Get Everything God Wants To Give You" / White Pine Community Church 01-22-12

Do you want everything God wants to give you? Do you think you've already gotten it?

"The filling of the Holy Spirit" is a phrase that makes some Christians think about what they already have, but it makes others want what they think they don't have. Maybe that's because the phrase is used in the Bible to describe different experiences.

Whether you consider yourself Spirit-filled or not, I think this message will broaden your perspective and whet your appetite to be filled with the Spirit in new ways.  I'm praying that will happen, not just for your sake but for the benefit of all who will be splashed with the living water that flows from within you when you are filled with all the fullness of God.

God In You - Part 1

Watch: God In You - Part 1, By Greg Sidders

If you want 2012 to be different than 2011, it's going to take more than sincere resolutions. It's going to take supernatural resources.

But how we get the power to make the changes in our lives than we want to make?

This Sunday at White Pine, we will begin a series called God In You. We're going to learn how to unleash the power of God in our lives so that we can live up to our potential. If you're tired of making the same resolutions year after year, and you're ready for deep and lasting transformation, it starts with doing whatever you need to do on New Year's Eve to be ready to hear God's voice on New Year's Day!
